Melanie Turned 4!!!!

So I was reading my friend Tesera's Blog and stole her idea to do a birthday interview. I am so sad that I have not been doing this every year with the girls but I am definitely going to do it now. Thanks Tesera!!!

Here is the interview:

*Warning: Melanie is not a big talker, her answers are brief at best. I wish I could include the looks of annoyance and the grunts that usually accompanied her answers.

1. What is you favorite color?

Blue

2. What is your favorite animal?

Elephants.

Why do you like elephants?

Hmph...My daddy showed me elephants at the zoo.

3. Where is your favorite place to go?

To get pizza.

4. Who is your best friend?

Aislynn. I like her because sometimes she comes to our house.

5. What is your favorite food?

Olive pizza.

6. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Mary Poppins with a motorcycle.

7. What do you want for your birthday?

A dress.

A blue kitty named Bubbles.

8. What is your favorite show?

Spongebob

9. What is your favorite treat?

Apple. (this answer was full of annoyed looks and grunting. Kailah and I tried to remind her of other treats she enjoys such as peanut butter cups and ice cream. Melanie said "I don't like those anymore, I like apples." I hope that this is indeed true and that she starts begging for apples instead of ice cream...)

10. What is your favorite movie?

Barbie Princess and the Pauper (Melanie asks to watch this almost everyday lately, Kailah is always the Princess and Melanie is always the Pauper.)

11. What is the best part of being 4?

Getting presents.

12. What is your favorite thing to play?

Dress up. (This is so true. Melanie puts her Belle dress on almost as soon as she gets up in the morning. She also has a lovely purple number that has lost most of it's layered skirt over the years and is now sheer, she always chooses the purple one when we play outside, I think that it is so the neighbors can get a good look at her undies, which is the only thing she likes to have on when not playing dress up)

13. What is your favorite song?

Bow Chicka Wow Wow (I don't know the actual name of this song. It is a song from the cartoon Phineas and Ferb. She sings it all the time. The title makes it sound like it would be played in a strip club, but it is a surprisingly fun, catchy song and very unstrip clubby. The best is when she turns it into a medley of her favorite songs, that includes this one, I Am a Child of God and We Will Rock You. It is awesome.)

Welcome to Gymnastics

Kailah started gymnastics today. She was mostly excited to try out her lovely butterfly unitard (who doesn't love unitards?) but quickly got into things. She is really excited for when they learn to do some tricks on the trampoline. And was excited to show off "the rocket" as seen in one of her pictures. I don't know what it is but I was impressed. I was excited that we chose gymnastics, especially after watching some of the moves being practiced in the other rooms. Gees, I think I must be a real prude but why is it okay for small girls (or anyone now that I think of it) to do pelvic thrusts and shake non-existent breasts? Hooray for gymnastics!!

Hip hip hooray for raspberries!!

Larry loves Oakglen and wanted to check out the fire damage. So, once again we headed up to pick raspberries, this time Larry's family joined us. We had lots of fun and Melanie even tried a raspberry, which she immediately spit on the ground and yelled "it's sour" and continued to spit for several minutes. Kailah had a wonderful time with her Aunt Laelle, I could hear the two of them shouting "I hit the jackpot" every few minutes. They proclaimed themselves to be expert raspberry pickers. I had a great time, there is nothing better then a fresh raspberry.

First Day of School!

Kailah officially became a 2nd grader and Melanie is a big preschooler!! Hooray! Melanie loves preschool because they have cheez-its and dancing. Can life be any better? Kailah is happy because Gracie is in her class again and she says Ms. Wall NEVER yells. I hope that the whole year is this exciting. :)

The Great Flood of '09

Last night I mopped up some water (turned the main waterline off) and thought, "I should really call a plumber in the morning". Morning came and the kitchen was covered in water.

The homeowners insurance sent someone out pretty quickly, they fixed the problem and then began ripping up the floor and all the baseboards! The girls had a lovely time climbing on the furniture as it was moved to the dry zone (a lonely place that is very very small). Several hours later we were left with no floor in the kitchen, pantry, dining area and half the living room. Some drywall needs to be torn out later. But at least they said it will all be fixed...in four weeks! The fans are nice though, I can't hear the girls fighting or when they call my name to tattle, maybe we should keep them...

Welcome to My World (muahahahaha)

So I finally succumbed to the pressure of the world of blogging. (Thanks Tara, if yours didn't make me so seethingly jealous I wouldn't be doing this) Anyway, my life is so fascinating I felt that it was time to blog about it. So here goes nuthin.....
